Cone head boy

Last weekend we took Charlie to the vet to get his vaccines and to get him neutered. They made him where one of those huge cones around his neck, so that he didn't reopen his stitches. The surgery lasted about 1 1/2 hours, and by the time we picked him up he was acting like nothing ever happened to him. He was jumping and was behaving like the happy Charlie we know and love. However, the surgery eventually caught up with him, and he ended up sleeping through most of the afternoon and evening. But, by the next morning he was back to normal--he wanted to play and chew on everything. The doctor told us to make sure he took it easy and didn't just around a lot, but how can you take it easy with a dog like Charlie?...He spent a lot of his time trying to get the cone off, but he had no luck. He definitely had some issues moving around the apartment and falling asleep, but I have to admit he looked pretty funny. Here are some pictures of the conehead ; )

Duvall Days

Last saturday we got invited to go to Duvall Days--a festival in the town where Tore and Tiffany live. It turns out Tiffany, Tore and the kids were part of a parade, so we went to see them. They closed the main street and we got to see some very interesting things in the parade. They had a group of dogs, firefighters, bands from the local schools, cheerleaders, dancing horses (which were our favorite), local farmers driving their tractors and some stinky cows. It was fun to hang out with Tiffany, Tore and the kids. After the parade was over we went to eat some mediterrean food at this little place and it was sooo good! We stayed there for a bit and then head over to a classic car show.

By the time we made it there, a lot of the show cars had already left, but the ones we did see were really cool. Then, we got some ice cream and went back to Tiffany and Tore's house and hang out there for a little bit, until the kids had to take their naps. We gave Ella her late birthday gift and we were so happy she liked it. We really enjoy hanging out with them and seeing the kids, so it was a very fun day and we were so glad we spent it with them.

Too many concerts

Two fridays ago a singer from Peru performed here in Seattle and of course my friend and I went to see him. I don't like the way people organize Peruvian concerts because there's always something wrong. This is the second time we've gone to one, and both times the show got started way too late. Even worse, they didn't control how much people drink, so annoying drunk were doing their best to ruin the show. Even with all the annoyances, we always have a good time. The last show was a rock artist named Pedro Suarez Vertiz, and we got there early to make sure we were in the front row jumping, dancing, screaming and just having a great time. I came back home after 2 am and it felt so weird to be back that late while Nils was sleeping. But it was alot of fun! Then on saturday we dropped off Charlie with Nils' friend Brett, who has a schnauzer named Oscar. The first time Charlie met Oscar it didn't go too well, so I was worried to leave him there, but we didn't have anybody else that could take care of him while we were put of town. So after dropping him off we came back home and got all our camping gear ready for the next day. On sunday we met up with some friends to drive together to Sasquatch. After about 3 hours of driving we got there, got our tent set up and went to the festival. We saw Rob Riggle, Kid Cudi, LCD Soundsystem, Pavement (they suck) , Public Enemy and danced the night away to Simian Mobile Disco DJ.
We were pretty exhausted and hungry by that point, so we headed back to the camp site and tried to make some smores. Unfortunately, since there were so many people at the campsite we weren't allowed to make a fire, so we tried to cook them on the grill. Turns out it's pretty hard and they ended up getting burned and weren't nearly as good as they should have been, so we just crashed. Maybe next time we'll try to make them the right way. The next day we woke up, ate breakfast, and headed over to watch some more shows. Nils was super excited for MGMT, so we stayed till 9pm just to see them, and I'm glad we did because they were good. The place was overflowing with people--it was crazy!

After they finished their set, we headed home, but didn't make it back home until like 2 in the morning, so we went straight to bed cause we were so tired. The next morning Nils' friend Brett brought Charlie back and he was super happy to see us. He told us that Charlie and his dog got along just fine. He even made a video of Charlie playing with Oscar (the schnauzer). Turns out all three of us had a really fun weekend : )
