Mini Vacay to Canada

Nils and I decided to go to Canada for the weekend to celebrate our wedding Anniversary number 3! We left Friday morning and spent some time at the hotel. We did a lot of fun things during our weekend away from home. This was my first time in Vancouver and I loved it! We went to the Aquarium, did some shopping, went out to a very nice dinner and went to the Capilano Bridge.

Baking time!

I decided to take a cake decorating class a couple of months ago and it was awesome. I learned so much and I loved it! I obviously need more practice, but I think I'm pretty good at it ; )
Here are some pictures of the cakes I decorated:

60 Minutes of Fear

Nils and I had the opportunity to join Tore and Tiffany to go watch a race in Monroe (which is a town known for white trash people). Surprisaly we all enjoyed watching cars get smash and had a great time. This was a father's day gift for the boys and they had a blast.

Thank you Tiffany for finding this event. We had so much fun!

My best friend's wedding

June 2nd came and Nils and I went on a roadtrip to Sacramento to witness my best friend and her new hubby get married. We left on Thursday morning and drove 12 hours to the hotel where we were staying. The next morning we woke up and went to the place where the wedding was going to take place to see the bride to be. We hung out there for a couple of hours and helped out with some of the decorations. Later on that day we had the rehearsal dinner and ate yummy mexican food and celebrated the happy couple.

Took a couple of pictures of us of course : )

And couldn't resist taking a picture of mommy and Ryder playing together

The next morning was the wedding day and my bestie looked sooo gorgeous I couldn't believe how beautiful she looked.

The ceremony was just too sweet and beautiful. I couldn't be more happy for the happy couple.

I love you Alicia!!!

Birthdays in May

May was a month full of birthdays of people we love.

Birthday # 1
Our nephew Beckett was the first one to have a birthday party this month and we were there to celebrate with him and his family. He turned 3 years old this year and he is such a happy, handsome and lovely boy.

Birthday #2
Our niece Ella will be 5 years old in a few days!! She is such a funny girl, super smart and knows exactly what she wants .. for about a day! hahaha
So, for her birthday she asked her mom for a peace sign/rainbow cake, so I decided to make her one. On saturday morning we picked her up and took her to the mall to go shopping, then we grabbed some food and had a picnic. We took Charlie with us so after we ate they played around for a bit. She was a happy girl : )
After we were done playing, we took her back to her house to have some cake. She saw the cake when I first brought it to her house but she had no idea that she was going to get a rainbow cake. Seeing her so happy that day was priceless to us. We love her very much and are glad we got a couple of hours to spend it with her.

Birthday #3
My dearest friend Angel turned 25 this year, so Nils and I decided to invite him over for dinner and make sure he knew how much we love him. We cooked his favorite meal, baked him a cake and hung a happy birthday sign : ) He wanted his birthday to be low-key, so after dinner we went to watch Men in Black III and loved it, then we came back home to have some cake. We had a great time with him and like always had lots of laughs.

Girls night out in Sacramento

I arrived in Sacramento on a friday and enjoyed every minute I got to spend with my best friend and her family. On Saturday, we went out to celebrate her bachelorette party and I got the chance to meet some of her new friends. The group of girls that were there on saturday made the night so much fun and I saw my bestie having the time of her life. I love her so much and I'm so happy for the weekend we got to spend together. Love you Alicia!!!

4 weeks down

Wow it's been four weeks already since we started to try to lose some weight... if you've been keeping up with us then you probably noticed that during Nils' parent's visit we went out to eat A LOT! so Nils and I decided to not count that week. It feels like when you are trying to lose weight everything else takes a place in your day and somehow you don't have the time you think you were going to have to work out. For Nils, work has been taking a lot of his time and he just can't get off work to work out. So, our solution for him is to work out together on the weekends and he needs to watch what he eats and also makes sure he gets some exercise during the week. His choice: Basketball.
For me it's been a little bit easier to go work out almost every day. Even though I've been busy with school, I try to keep going to work out and sometimes it's great and sometimes it's not. But we are still trying to move around and get healthy, so have faith in us... we are not quitting this time!!!
I also thought that Nils and I should sign up for a 5K so that we have something to keep us motivated. And what better way to do that then to a run for charity. If you want to join us please sign up at this website:

Charlie's Birthday

Charlie turned 2 years old on February 28th  and we celebrated big!
He got a new toy and loved it

I also found this recipe for him and baked him some cupcakes:

Peanut Butter Delight

1 cup white or whole wheat flour

1 tsp baking soda
1/4 cup peanut butter
1/4 cup vegetable oil
1 cup shredded carrots
1 tsp vanilla
1/3 cup honey
1 egg

Directions:

Preheat oven to 350°F (180°C)
Mix together flour and baking soda. Add remaining ingredients and mix well. Pour into a ring mold sprayed with a nonstick spray for 40 minutes.
(I didn't do this part, but we'll try it for his next birthday)
Frost this cake with low fat cottage cheese and decorate with carrot pieces. Store in refrigerator.

Nils and I are pretty sure he liked it.. here are a couple of pictures to prove it

yum yum yum
We know that he had an awesome birthday and that he enjoys being part of our family. We definitetly adore him and enjoy his little personality around here... he makes us soo happy and we just love love him!!!
Happy Birthday to our sweet boy Charlie!

Nils' parents came to visit

The Sundelins arrived on the 14th and stayed with us for a week. We had so much fun with them!
Tuesday: we celebrated Nils' birthday together.

Wednesday: Liv' birthday

Thursday: We went shopping to the outlets, found some great deals, and went to the peruvian restaurant for lunch/dinner.

Friday: We went to look at houses and Nils found the perfect bathtub : )
Later that day we met up with Tore and family and had dinner at Red Robin and at night Mom and I did our nails together.

Saturday: Liv got baptized and we all hung out that day. At night Mom, Dad, Nils and I went out to our favorite mexican restaurant for dinner "Plaza Garcia"

Sunday: We all went to Birgit's house and had the annual palt fest party with everyone. Later that night, we came back to our place and watched "The Help" have you seeing it yet? If not, go rent it right now!!! We all enjoyed watching it, it was great!

Monday: I didn't have school due to President's Day, so Mom, Dad and I went to hang out with Tiffany and the kids while Nils went to work. We dropped off Charlie for the day at Petsmart thinking he also needed a day off.
Tuesday: Nils had to go to work and I had homework to do. So, Mom and Dad went to Duvall to spend the day with the other Sundelins : )
Wednesday morning came too fast and it was already time for Mom and Dad to go back to Delaware : ( We wished they could have stayed a little longer with us. We loved every day we got to spend with them and had so much fun having them around. Charlie also had a great time with them, especially because they played with him a lot. We'll sure miss them!

TOMS in Peru

This week I read that TOMS made it to Peru and gave shoes to children in need. I feel extremely happy about this, because I know how bad poverty is in my country and to see those children receiving a new pair of shoes made me so proud to be part of this movement.

I own two pairs of TOMS and recently purchased a pair for our niece Liv. With those three purchases we helped three children to have shoes.
