Our trip to California

Day 1:
We arrived to California last friday at 1pm. We took Charlie with us, and to our surprise he behaved very well during the flight. He fell asleep in his travel bag and didn't make any noise. When we arrived we picked up the rental car and waited for Kurt and Sharon's flight. After Charlie finished giving them a year's supply of hello kisses, we went to the Mormon Batallion Museum in Old Town San Diego and grabbed some dinner at a mexican restaurant nearby. After eating we headed to Murrieta, to my parents' house.

It took us about an hour to get to the house. When we got there, Bruno and Charlie met. We introduced Kurt and Sharon to my family and went to see the decorations for the party. There was still so much to do. We started helping and hanging out with everybody. It was nice to finally be there and have Nils' parents meet my family.

Day 2 - Party day

The next morning we woke up really early, had some breakfast, went shopping for the last things we needed for the party and helped get all the last details ready. The party started by 6 pm. Nils and I danced with each other and with everyone from our families. We had around 50 people over, and had lots of fun. The peruvian buffet was a great idea, and the food was delicious. We also had a chocolate fountain, that was a hit with the kids. We took lots of pictures but always wish we took more. Sergio and Sharon had a contest to see which one took the most pictures and the winner was Sergio. Thanks to them and Pablo, we have over 400 pictures of our party. We also had 3 cakes, 2 were made by Joan Wakeland ( a sweet lady my mom works for) and the other one my mom ordered. All 3 were very tasty . The decoration was very pretty thanks to Albina (my mom's best friend) . My mom really went all out with everything , every little detail was perfect. I danced all night long. We are so glad we got to see and hang out with everybody.

Day 3:

Woke up, had "rosquitas" for breakfast, went to church with Nils' parents, my mom, grandmom and Aunt Elva. Then we helped clean up the house and took down all the decorations. My mom was cleaning the chocolate fountain when out of nowhere she had the idea of having a chocolate fight with me. So she grabbed some of the chocolate, put it on my face and ran outside. Her excuse was " I didn't want it all to go to waste". After taking a second shower and trying to get the chocolate out of my hair, Nils wanted to thank everyone for their help with the party and for flying to California to spend time with us, so we took them all out to dinner at Chilli's.

Day 4:

Monday morning we took Sharon and Kurt to the airport. We had plans to go to the beach but the weather was not on our side so we went back to Murrieta and found my mom, grandma and my aunt yelling at the tv. They were watching the soccer match between Brazil and Chile and they were sooo loud and so funny. Later on that day Sergio and Nils wanted to race so we went to pole position. After Nils embarassed Sergio on the track, we went to In n' Out burgers (one of my favorite places to go to everytime we visit). Then, back to the house to play Clue with the brothers. Sergio was the first one to guess, and he was wrong about the person, place and weapon! Angel followed suit immediately after, and only did slightly better. Hopefully by the next time we go visit they've figured out how to play!

Day 5:

Tuesday was Pablo's birthday. My grandma gathered us all together to go wake him up and sing the happy birthday song to him. After waking him up, grandma made "tacacho" for breakfast. We got ready and went to the beach with Pablo and Angel. Once again the day was not the best to go to the beach but it was my brother's b-day so we went anyway. We had fun! Angel and Pablo were brave enough to go in the water while Nils and I just relaxed.

After hanging out at the beach for a couple of hours we went out to Angelo's Burger by the beach, then went back to Murrieta to change clothes and get ready for Pablo's b-day party. While getting ready Alejandra showed up to hang out with us. It's always nice to see her. She is one of my favorites and I love hanging out to her. We all went to a park, grandma made "juanes" for dinner and we just hung out by the lake. It was a really nice day, especially when you spend it with family. Pablo had a good birthday and we were so happy to spend it with him.

Day 6:

Time to come back home. During this trip we enjoyed family and friends' company. We had an awesome time, but we think that the one that really had a blast was Charlie. He loved staying at the house and running up and down the stairs. He also got to go on his first walk. Fortunately, he and Bruno got along alright--they never really played, but they also didnt fight either, so that was good. Bruno was being really good, especially because Charlie played with his toys and was a big fan of bitting his tail. We are glad we took him and that everyone got to see him and play with him. We left the house around 11 am. During the ride from the house to the airport Charlie got sick but was ok during the flight. We made it home by 7pm and once again said bye to California wishing we had stayed a little longer. Oh how much I miss California!
