We really wish we could live closer to them and hang out more often, I definitely miss having my best my friend close by, but I'm extremely happy for her. During our visit Jordan showed us the ring he had chosen to propose to her on Xmas morning. I was thrilled to know that in a couple of days my best friend was going to be the happiest girl on the planet, she wanted that ring more than anything, and I felt so excited for them. We shared a wonderful dinner together at Daphne's one of my favorite Greek restaurants in California, and said our goodbyes.
The next day, very early in the morning, we left to another 10 hours drive. On our way down,we stopped in Modesto and found the house where Nils grew up in and snapped a couple of pictures.
We also found a small Swedish town and had to stopped to check it out and stretch our legs.
We were very surprised with Charlie because he is so hyper that we thought that taking him on a two day road trip was going to be a disaster, but he behaved very well, so we were very happy with him. This was Xmas eve, so of course we hit Xmas traffic and it took us longer to get to my parents' house. We arrived in our hotel in Temecula around 6 pm , we got ready and head it to my parent's place. When we knocked the door, my older brother Pablo open the door and his jaw dropped, it was awesome! I was very worried that somehow they knew we were coming, but after seeing his face I knew for sure that nobody knew, and we surprised them! Charlie ran into the apartment like he knew where he was, my mom came out with her towel in her hair and everybody was very excited to see us and so were we. After some happy tears, we got together and had dinner, enjoyed each other's company. It's a tradition at the house to wait until midnight to open up the gifts, and so we did.
The next day we went to my aunt's house. My little brother was sick, so he stayed home with my dad and the 2 dogs. We all got together at my aunt's house, all my cousins and aunts were there. We had a great time, it had been a very long time since we last saw all of the cousins, so I was very happy to see them all. We played Apples to Apples, and of course took some pictures. I absolutely loved spending time with my cousins, I think we should get together more often, because I truly miss them.
The next day was Sergio's b-day, I cooked dinner and they all liked it. Later on that day we went bowling with some of Sergio's friend's, Angel and Alejandra. After that we headed back home for some cake and more Monopoly.
On Monday, we went down to the dog beach in San Diego, close to where Alejandra lives. We met up with her, Angel and Pablo came along and we all enjoyed a sunny day at the beach. Charlie was not a big fan of the water, but had a lot of fun running around and playing with other dogs, it was too cute. Unfortunately, Bruno had to be on a leash because he is not fixed and not too friendly, but we had a good time watching the dogs play. Nils' friends Scott and Brianne met us at the beach and we all went to Hoodas for some yummy burgers.
We hang out for a little bit and headed back home to catch the Eagles' game. The next day we stayed home and enjoyed my Dad's cooking, we were having so much fun that Nils and I decided to extend our vacation. When we told my parents they were extremely happy with our decision. Wednesday, we took some sibling photos and did some shopping with my mom, Angel and Pablo.
Friday night we took everyone out to dinner at TGI Friday. Our New Years was very low key, we spent it with family and just did our traditional stuff, like eating 12 grapes under the table for good luck as soon as it was midnight. We also ate some pork for good luck. Nils went to sleep early because we had to get up the next day to drive back home, I stayed a little longer and hung out with my family, talked about our New Years resolutions and remembered old times. Also during this trip, my Mom gave me my childhood pictures, so that made me happy. It was a very nice trip and we had a really good time. I loved that we got to spend Xmas with them, that we surprised them and got to see everyone during the Holidays.
